Even though we are seasoned radiology travel technologists – sometimes finding a new contract can be difficult (especially when there are two of us trying to get two jobs in the same city)

Its the end of August 2025 and you are finding yourself struggling to find a healthcare travel contract that is speaking to you… I get it. That’s the boat Alex and I are in right now.
We have been doing travel radiology for 4 years now. This not only makes us very marketable to seeking hospitals but also makes us WAYYY more picky when it comes to the jobs we will accept.
Right now, it feels like there is nothing out there that is “perfect” for us. Either the hours are terrible, the pay is low, the location is COLD (lol) or there isn’t a job for both of us.
We get asked this question a lot: “Is it hard finding contracts for both of you?”
Usually I would answer “Not really.”
But as of August 31, 2025 – I would answer differently.
For some reason right now, we are having trouble getting offers for both of us. Either Alex gets the offer and then they fill the MRI position for me, or vice versa…. bummer.
Sure there are contracts for us in some cities/places we just don’t want to go right now but we COULD apply to. They just aren’t speaking to us.
Since doing this four years. We are very adamant on the philosophy of: “if it’s meant to be, it will be.” – We have found that the right contract always finds its way to us.
We have been so surprised by some of the contracts that have fallen into our laps that we didn’t expect but turned out to be some of our favorites – Norfolk, Virginia -for example!
So as we come up on our 3 week out mark, I find myself getting a teeny tiny bit stressed. I have two MRI pending offers, but we are awaiting the offer for Alex’s CT contract. One of the hospitals does have another CT opening but the job is pending approval from the higher ups. So we must be patient and wait. Or, like we have done, keep applying to other contracts that may be good enough.
We aren’t the only ones in this boat right now. After saying to my recruiter “I just feel like the pay is lower than usual and the locations just aren’t speaking to us,” he said that other fields like respiratory therapy and nurses are saying similar things. The jobs just aren’t very enticing right now. Which is weird. You would expect for things to slow down or become more scarce around some of the major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it’s not like there is much going on at the end of September.
Maybe other travelers are staying put and that is creating a domino effect for those of us trying to land a new contract for the fall. Who knows.
Tomorrow is Monday, September 1st – labor day. Nothing – job wise – is going to be happening tomorrow. Tuesday will be the day that new jobs will be posted or filled ones will be removed. Hopefully we will get some updates on the jobs we had applied to on Friday. And (fingers crossed) we get two jobs locked down by the end of the week!
I hope this post brings some reassurance to someone else who may be struggling to find “the” contract this time of year. Travel healthcare has its ups and downs during the year. Usually August/September isn’t one of those “downs,” but trends change. Keep your head up! Keep applying! Keep being RAD!
