“I haven’t had my coffee yet”
The Best Coffee Shops in Charleston, SC
Charleston, SC has been one of those “bucket place” locations for me. I had vacationed here when I was in college with my boyfriend (now husband), my best friend, and her boyfriend. I fell in love! I loved the coastal vibes, the walking culture, and the happiness that radiated throughout the city.
Fast forward, the opportunity for both Alex and I to work in Charleston arose and we couldn’t pass it up. Although we would be making less money than we had been, sometimes you move somewhere for the location rather than the paycheck. This was one of those circumstances.
One of my favorite parts about being a travel healthcare worker is getting to live places that I never thought I would. And maybe falling in love with the place in the meantime? Picking up your life and moving to a new city is always scary, but getting to work there, fully live there for 3 months, and explore like a local is the best (and I get to do it with my best friend – Alex!)
I have explored the city so you don’t have to and found my favorite *gems* within the city!

Best coffee spots
Island Provisions: the best coffee, delicious food, and the cutest vibes
Address: 221 St Philip St, Charleston, SC 29403
Link here: https://www.islandprovisions.com/

If you’re a coffee snob like me, then finding a perfectly delicious latte and a cafe with a cute vibe too is hard to come by. Island Provisions has both. Great service, delicious lattes (dairy free milk options too!), even better food (my favorite is the “somewhat healthy” sandwich) & did I mention they have outdoor seating too?
The Wi-Fi is strong, so perfect for bringing your laptop and settling into some work while you sip on a smoothie or coffee. They have grab and go options at the front of the store & wine for sale.
The Harbinger Cafe & Bakery: Local coffee shop with killer breakfast sandwich, yummy coffee, and enough baked goods for a crowd.
Address: 1107 King St, Charleston, SC 29403

This cafe & bakery is always popping with a line out the door but service is quick and efficient. Their pastry case will have you in awe with their huge array of baked goods. If sweets aren’t your thing then you have to try their signature breakfast sandwich which has frittata eggs on a homemade focaccia bread with some magic sauce. I love their breakfast sandwich because it is unique and tastes healthy. Their pumpkin spice latte was yummy and they do still have dairy free milk options (for those of us lactose intolerant girlies). Snag a seat inside their quirky cafe or sneak out the back to their patio space.
